1. Basic Admission Requirements

To begin a bachelor's degree in Germany, applicants are generally expected to meet the following requirements:

  • University Admission Certificate: An ÖSYM placement document proving admission to a four-year bachelor's degree or a two-year associate degree program in Türkiye.

  • Language Proficiency:

    • For German-taught programs: Usually German language proficiency at the C1 level (TestDaF, DSH, or Goethe C1 Certificate).

    • For English-taught programs: Academic English proficiency (IELTS 6.5+ or TOEFL 90+).

    • Conditional Admission: If you do not yet meet the required language level, you may receive conditional admission and complete your language studies in Germany.

  • Academic Documents: High school diploma and transcripts translated by a sworn translator and legalized with an Apostille.

2. Costs

Tuition Fees

Public Universities

  • Most public universities do not charge tuition fees.

  • Students only pay a semester contribution fee of approximately €150–€400.

  • Exception: International students in the state of Baden-Württemberg may pay €1,500 per semester.

Blocked Account

During the visa application process, students must prove that they have sufficient financial resources.

For 2026, the required blocked account amount is €11,904 per year, with a monthly withdrawal limit of €992.

3. Application Process and Timeline

Winter Semester (Starting in October)

  • Applications generally open until the end of May.

  • The application deadline is usually 15 July.

Summer Semester (Starting in April)

  • Applications generally remain open until mid-December.

  • The application deadline is usually 15 January.

Important: Due to high demand for visa appointments, applicants are advised to begin the application process 9–12 months before the intended start of their studies.

4. Duration of Study

  • Bachelor's Degree: 3–4 years

  • Master's Degree: 1–2 years

  • PhD: 3–5 years

5. University Tuition Fees

Public Universities

  • Tuition is generally free.

  • Students pay a semester contribution fee of approximately €150–€350.

  • This fee often includes student services and a public transportation pass.

Private Universities

  • Annual tuition fees generally range from €5,000 to €20,000.

6. Living Expenses

Average monthly expenses:

  • Accommodation: €350–€700

  • Food: €200–€300

  • Health Insurance: Approximately €140

  • Other Expenses: €150–€300

The average monthly cost of living in most German cities ranges from €900 to €1,300.
